President Woodrow Wilson publicly opposed secret treaties and advocated for self-determination, which conflicted with the arrangements laid out in the Sykes-Picot Agreement. Democratic Senator Huey P. Long from Louisiana did indeed oppose the Senate’s confirmation of the treaty for the United States to join the League of Nations. Hence “neutral Paris and London” prior to the 6 day war jumped at the chance to write the UN SC Resolution 242, because it restored their ‘Great Power’ status/domination of the Balance of Power across the Middle East by framing “Land for Peace” Two-State Solution. This disgusting imperialism treated Israel as if it had never won its National Independence not in 1948 nor again in 1967. Both Wars Arab leaders swore they would throw the Jews into the Sea and complete the Nazi Shoah. 242 framed the Arab/Israeli War simply as a land dispute. It ignored pre-State UN GA Resolution 181, (Introduced by an enraged Britain following the Irgun bombing of the King David Hotel in Jerusalem on July 22, 1946.), on November 29, 1947. All recently Independent Arab countries from British and French colonialism opposed UN GA 181. Egypt effectively secured Independence from British control in 1922. Both Iraq and Kuwait – administered by Britain but managed separately from the territories of the Palestine Mandate. Iraq gained Independence in 1932. Britain aimed to secure its influence in the Persian Gulf, especially in light of the oil resources discovered in the region. Controlling Kuwait allowed Britain to maintain supremely strategic naval routes, which were essential for its empire and trade networks.

I moved to Israel prior to the outbreak of the first Gulf War, where Saddam – the former Client State of the US during the Iran/Iraq War – sought to restore Kuwait as part of its original territory. British Great Power imperialism loved the ‘two state solution’. It employed this divide and conquer policy in the division of India from Pakistan. The U.S. support for resolutions like UN 242 and UN 338, which aimed to address the Arab-Israeli conflict, (compare & contrast – alongside the leadership positions established through President Trump’s Abraham Accords – exposes and reveals a complex evolution in U.S. foreign policy rather than a slavish Bush 1 & 2 slavish ‘Cat N’ the Hat’ adherence to earlier British models like UN 181. UN Resolution 242 called for the withdrawal of Israeli armed forces from territories occupied during the conflict. LBJ tied down in Vietnam, permitted British and French to write this divide and conquer Resolution which sharply contrasts with the Ike/Stalin expulsion of London as a Great Power in the Middle East after 1956. Yet both countries, once obvious that the Arabs had lost demanded an immediate cease fire! The cease-fire that ended hostilities, primarily enforced by the United Nations through diplomatic pressure. Equating the Quartet two-state solution to the Nazi Final Solution clearly political hyperbole; comparable to South Africa’s blood libel slander accusation of genocide before the UN. Any and all foul attempts to slander Israel by unilateral equivocations which declare Israeli guilt equal to the Nuremberg conviction of Nazi arch fiends of Humanity – hyperbole without humor or shame! To grasp the seriousness of this propaganda disgrace, requires context and precedents. The ’48 cease fire lines left an exposed Jewish state with a narrow 9 mile waste-line enticement for further invasions with the goal to throw the Jews into the Sea. The UN/Quartet appeasement of Arab hostility repeatedly expressed through the treatment of Israel as a protectorate territory rather than an Independent State who twice won its National Independence through Wars. The former perhaps best exemplified in US support for the British & French UN Resolution 242 and 338 which sought to restrict and limit the growing Israeli weight in determining the balance of power across the Middle East; both England & France sought to negate their great power defeat in the disastrous 1956 Suez Crisis which reduced both countries to second tier powers during the Cold War.

Containment, caused the US to become the Police Force of the Planet; especially after Truman invaded Korea without a Congressional declaration of war. Truman did not micromanage the Korean conflict, at least not until he overruled MacArthur’s demand to employ atomic bombs against China. In point of fact both Begin and Sharon governments agreed with “withdrawal from territories” 242 premise to achieve peace. Begin withdrew Israel from the captured Sinai and Sharon withdrew, post Oslo Accords, Israeli domination of Gaza. The latter effectively established a “Palestinian state”(s) in Gaza and Palestinian autonomy in Area 1 of Samaria. 242’s “inadmissibility of acquisition of territory by war” clashes with Allied actions—expelling 12-14 million Germans from East Prussia (now Polish/Russian Kaliningrad), Sudetenland (Czech), and other areas in 1945-1950, with millions more dying enroute. The U.S. recognizes Israel’s right to exist and has historically supported Israel in various international forums. While it has acknowledged the importance of the resolutions, it has often criticized them as biased against Israel. Iran views the resolutions as part of a Western agenda to maintain control over the Middle East and undermine Palestinian rights.

The Iranian government often frames its support for Palestine as a resistance against imperialism and colonialism. The Venezuelan government has adopted an anti-imperialist stance and often criticizes Western policies in the Middle East. All Arab and Muslim countries prior to the Camp David Accords and the Abraham Accords abhorred the idea that Jews have equal rights to achieve self determination in the Middle East as defined by the Balfour Declaration of 1917 and the Palestine Mandate of 1922.

The language of “withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied territories” the language of Quartet imperialism. All two-state solutions always resulted in further wars and Great Power intervention. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq & Kuwaite, the Indian Pakistan wars etc.

Prior to the Camp David Accords (1978) and the Abraham Accords (2020), many Arab and Muslim countries rejected the notion of Jewish self-determination in the region. UN Resolution 3379 – Zionism is Racism serves as objective proof. Not till 1964 did the KGB and Arafat opportunism embrace the flag/label of Palestine. During the British mandate Arabs rejected the name Palestine because its a name based upon the Balfour Declaration of 1917.
